๐Ÿšƒ Osaka Metro New Tram Operations Resuming Around 8:30 PM ๐Ÿšƒ

July 19, 2023, 5:47 PM

Osaka Metro has revealed that it is working towards resuming operations for the New Tram, which has been suspended since the 18th. The company aims to restart services around 8:30 PM on the 19th.

Due to a malfunction in the substation facilities that occurred after 6:30 PM on the 18th, all tram services were suspended from the first train on the 19th. The company is taking measures such as providing alternative transportation and running temporary buses.

During the press conference held in Osaka's Nishi Ward, Osaka Metro explained that the malfunction caused a short circuit in the equipment that measures the amount of electricity from the power company, resulting in the inability to supply power to the trains.

While the investigation into the cause of the short circuit is ongoing, the company now expects to resume operations around 8:30 PM instead of the initially expected 5:00 PM.

Osaka Metro has already completed the replacement of parts suspected to be the cause of the problem and has started supplying power to the stations and trains.

Hori Motoharu, Managing Director of Osaka Metro, stated during the press conference, "We sincerely apologize for the great inconvenience to all users and stakeholders. We will continue our efforts to resume operations as soon as safety is confirmed and will work to prevent similar incidents in the future by increasing inspections of the facilities in the substations."

【Feedback from Tram Users】

Confused voices were heard at Suminoe Park Station. A woman in her 70s, who was planning to transfer at this station to head to Abeno Ward, said, "Since the tram has stopped, I took a replacement bus to get here. It's inconvenient because I don't know the route to the subway." Another man living in Sumiyoshi Ward, who was heading to Nanko for work, said, "Since it has been stopped since yesterday, the company called and told me to wake up early today, so I came with extra time. I've never experienced such a situation before."
